Finite Step Method

Viscous Wave Scattering over Arbitrary Topography

Lamb developed a plane-wave approximation (PWA) (Lamb, 1937) for describing wave reflection and transmission of a normally incident wave propagating over finite steps.

This research investigates the effect of molecular viscosity on waves propagating over trenches of different shapes using the plane-wave approximation. We establish a new model which includes real fluid properties and bottom sliding conditions to deal with problems of wave scatteringover trenches. (Tsal et al., 2013)
